What is GhostGains?
GhostGains is an entertainment-first, data-backed 'what-if' simulator that turns "What if?" into numbers. We visualize the opportunity costs of past investment decisions—the wealth that got away. This is not financial advice.

How Ghost Profit Works
Ghost Profit is calculated by comparing historical asset prices to today's values. Here's the simple math:
- Pick an asset (Bitcoin, Tesla, S&P 500, etc.) and a year
- We use the opening price from January 1st of that year as your hypothetical entry point
- We compare it to the current market price
- Calculate the difference: (Current Price - Entry Price) × Investment Amount = Ghost Profit
This is a simplified simulation. Real investing involves fees, taxes, timing, and a million other variables we don't account for.
What You'll See
Our calculations make several assumptions:
- Lump-sum investment assumption (we assume you invest a fixed amount at the start)
- Entry price convention: We use the opening price from January 1st of the selected year
- Current price convention: We use the latest price from our data sources (may have slight delays)
- Does not include: trading fees, taxes, slippage, dividends, or other real-world costs
